CHARACTER
✧ NAME: Hecate (Hekate)
✧ SERIES: Greek Mythology
✧ HISTORY: http://www.theoi.com/Khthonios/Hekate.html.
✧ Daughter of the Titans Asteria and Perses
✧ Can bestow upon mortals what they desire, or not, if they do not deserve it. They only Titan who retained that power under the rule of Zeus and was honored among the immortal gods
✧ Assisted the gods in the war with the Gigantes and killed Clytius with her torches
✧ Saw the abduction of Persephone and assisted Demeter in her search, then stayed with Persephone as an attendant and companion after Persephone was located.
✧ Guides lost souls and the souls allowed out of the underworld at night, her presence announced by the howling and whining of dogs.
✧ TIMELINE: Modern era (she is well aware of modern mortals and their changing desires)
✧ PERSONALITY: She stalks the night, bringing the ghosts of the dead to the upper world at night and guiding lost souls to their proper place. At times quiet, others, a fierce guardian, tender to those she protects and dispensing justice to others. She knows what one needs, wants, or deserves and gives them exactly what they are looking for. Deadpan wit and a morbid outlook are Cate's hallmarks. Quiet, otherworldly, black sense of humor. Her powers are stronger at night, especially on dark, moonless starlit nights.
Hecate is aware of how her worship became twisted and confused with time, and the forgetfulness of mortals who once worshiped her and her relatives.
She is loyal to Persephone and Hades and would do anything to help them and as such is not interested in relationships, for she feels that interferes with her duties. She does have a sharp tongue when angered.
✧ ABILITIES/POWERS: Goddess of magic, witchcraft, the night, moon, ghosts and necromancy. One of the few gods who could give anything to anyone or take it away. Associated with medicines, especially poisons. Dogs are a special favorite of hers, and it isn't unusual to find Hecate at the head of a pack of dogs. Associated as well with weasels/polecats/martens.
✧ TIME OF ARRIVAL: Night
✧ MASK DESIGN: http://www.culture.tigertorreart.com/Hecate.jpg
✧ PLACE OF SOLACE: A small palace, simple in design and decoration. Comfortable but not showy, filled with books and dogs.
SAMPLES
✧ FIRST PERSON:
[text]
Even the darkest night is never quiet. Yet this place is? The silence is not natural, and neither is this place. It is certainly not a place I am familiar with.

Mortals are amusing. They forget the important and remember the petty, the inconsequential. They worry over tiny things and ignore the larger concerns. They even fear Death! Now, is that the silliest thing? Such a natural thing for mortals, to be embraced in the arms of Death and taken to Hades. So they fear it, and so anything Death touches is a frightful thing. Perhaps that explains why there are so many souls who wander the world at night? They cannot rest easy while afraid of their state and jealous of the the living.
✧ THIRD PERSON:
Night. Dark silence broken only by bright lights and a pale pearl of a moon. The stars off axis, their pictures of heroes and blessed mortals helter-skelter.
Hecate moved gracefully through the thronging inhabitants, her feet as silent as the grave. She missed her dark companions, and the eerie quiet of the brightly lit city, filled with equally silent people made her uneasy.
Waking in that room, the moon's light painting pastel patterns through the stained glass window, she knew something was not right. The Oneiroi and Morpheus himself should not tamper this much with a sleeper's dreams, to lock them in this dream world. One that even claimed to have a King and Queen, according to that note near her bed.
Whatever this place claimed to be, it was not real. Or could it be? She had to know. Then her next duty would be to find Hades and Persephone, for it was entirely possible they, too, found themselves here.
